Royal Liver Building 100 year anniversary

I went to the Pier Head for the anniversary of the iconic Liver Building, part of the 'On the Waterfront' series of events. Unfortunately, my camera battery ran out just as the celebrations started...

Museum of Liverpool

I attended the much anticipated opening of the £72million Museum of Liverpool. I couldn't help feeling a bit confused about 3XN's concept of the shape of the building being reminiscent of trading ships, and the  two huge gable windows pointing towards the city and the harbour (neither seem to face the city)?

One thing which definitely works is the spiral staircase, central to the museum. I'll reserve judgement on the rest of the building until I get a proper look when it's less busy!

Zurenborg

Zurenborg is a district of Antwerp which experienced massive development at the end of the 19th century. The south east area attracted the wealthy, who showed their opulence through their houses. Each owner could choose his own architect and style, as long as it fitted in. Consequently, an eclectic mix of architecture was formed, many of which are now protected monuments.
